CAPARRA e SICILIANI
Caparra and Siciliani are two families with winemaking traditions dating back to the 19th c. The families joined forces in 1963 to cultivate the indigenous grapes of Cirò.
The estates current owners, Giansalvatore Caparra and Giuseppe Siciliani, share a dedication to the region’s rich history and to producing high quality Cirò and Cirò Classico DOC wines. Caparra & Siciliani only partner with expert growers who know the nuances and difficulties of growing Gaglioppo. Dr. Fabrizio Ciufoli is their oenologist. The company operates exclusively in the area of the Cirò Classico subzone and produce wine only from their own 213 hectares of vineyards.
Their hope is that by combining traditional winemaking techniques of long skin contact maceration and modern cellar equipment, such as temperature control tanks, they will make both a wine that speaks of terroir and will promote Cirò to an international name. They combine the use of stainless steel, cement vats and large botti (oak) in their winemaking process.
